About

Hi, I’m Dirk.

Security engineer by trade, skater by default. I’ve been doing both for about twenty years and neither shows signs of stopping.

My work sits at the intersection of offensive and defensive security. I’ve done penetration testing, incident response, EDR operations at scale, and threat hunting. I run OpenBSD at home because I think the way that project makes decisions is worth paying attention to. I use Emacs because it fits how I think.

This blog is where I document what I build and what I figure out. Some of it is technical. Some of it is not. I try to be honest about the difference between what I know and what I’m guessing.
